Many websites exploit behavioral psychology to keep you on the site longer. This increases their ad revenue. Disengaged removes the parts of websites that seek to exploit you.

Content should draw you in on its own merit, without websites pushing you toward consuming more than you intended to.

Examples:

• Watch a Youtube video without it trying to make you watch six more.
• Read comment threads after they've been heavily abridged.
• Click something because it interests you, not because a bunch of other people said they liked it.
