Any chance to make this open source? I am reluctant to install code that I can not verify.

Mozilla disabled source code viewer for performance reasons (proof: https://github.com/mozilla/addons-server/issues/5134). And I do not want to start a github-project for such a trifle.
But you can always look at the code of any add-on in the xpi-file in the Firefox profile after the installation.
