This extension prevents PDF files from being saved to your computer when you open them. It allows you to view these files at the URL they were downloaded from.
Safety
- The extension is tiny and contains no scripts at all.
- The extension requires host permissions ("Access your data for all web sites") in order to modify web requests. See Implementation below.
ImplementationPDF Always In Tab works by removing the
?forcedownload=1 URL parameter.
AlternativesIf you prefer not to install the extension, you may enable
browser.download.open_pdf_attachments_inline in Advanced Preferences (about:config) to modify Firefox's default behaviour. This will prevent the PDF from being saved to your computer.
However, unless you remove
?forcedownload=1, the tab will be duplicated every time it reloads.
