Thanks for your feedback and we are sorry to hear this.
In order to investigate this a bit more, we will need some more details as we don’t know of any issues at present that would slow down Google Chrome. Please contact us at support@leanlibrary.com and we would be very happy to look into this and help resolve it for you.
In the meantime, here are some of the minimum requirements you need to have in your computer to experience the best performance of the Lean Library extension:
1. Please make sure to update your extension to the latest available version for your preferred browser.
2. Update your browser to the latest available version.
3. Update the operating system of your computer to at least Windows 7 or higher, macOS Big Sur 11 or higher.
4. We recommend using a computer with Intel processer series 5 or higher for the best performances of the Lean Library extension.
5. Having a consistent internet connection is required for the extension to work properly.
6. The number of tabs you have opened within the browser can also affect the speed of the extension as the other tabs can utilise the CPU, RAM and Internet bandwidth as well. Therefore we recommend you not to open too many tabs at the same time for the best Lean Library experience.

Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.

Clare - Noté 1 sur 5par GV, il y a 4 ansWhen used as an extension, it increases the RAM usage of firefox 3 to 4 times than without it. My computer starts making loud noises and seems to start struggle.

- Noté 2 sur 5par Prof.Nora, il y a 4 ansIt slows down my browser for some reason, so I had to uninstall it. Also, the extension kept popping up which was very distracting and annoying. The extension also often overrides normal access to the most random websites, making it nearly impossible to view some sites because the extension forces me to visit a different site or just refuses to let me access it. And once I have managed to log into a site it still takes me numerous clicks to get to the PDF. Overall not a very helpful tool for my research.

Thanks very much for your reply and I am sorry to hear this. This can be fixed by changing some settings. If you can get in touch with us directly support@leanlibrary.com and let us know which institute you are with, we can definitely give you some suggestions on the settings.
Best wishes

- Noté 2 sur 5par Retr0, il y a 4 ansWhile the extensions does what it says by giving you access through your library. It also is extremely intensive on the cpu, resulting in a frustrating delay when typing in text fields (such as where I write this review, but also comment sections on social websites and even in Google Docs and Word online). This delay forces me to disable the extension in order to browse normally. Please fix

Clare - Noté 2 sur 5par fluffymitten, il y a 5 ansThis add on often overrides normal access to the most random websites, making it impossible to view some sites because the add-on forces me to visit a different site or just plain refuses to let me in. There should be a prompt to continue as a non-Institution user or use my institution's credentials. I've disabled the add-on as it interfered so badly with day to day browsing of news and research sites that I need for work rather than my studies.

We appreciate your feedback.
The pop-up settings are managed by your library but we understand this might be frustrating for you. To address this, on the Lean Library's extension page, please tick "Skip the popup and automate my access.", you will then stop seeing the pop-ups unless you click on our extension.
To increase the optimization for our users, we are currently working on an end-user dashboard, where you will be able customize your own pop-up settings and set your own preferences.
This is under development at the moment and we will release it soon so keep an eye out for an announcement about this!

- Noté 3 sur 5par Rafael, il y a 5 ansThe extension creates pop-ups which are unnecessarily big and don't disappear automatically after some time.
Sometimes the pop-ups are useful when they provide a link to an alternative access site.
Most of the times, the pop up simply states that an article has been unlocked.
The pop-ups block a bit less than 1/4 of the web page, completely unnecessarily in either case.
It would be very much appreciated if this could be fixed since the extension works well otherwise.Réponse du développeur

Clare - Noté 3 sur 5par Kensall, il y a 5 ansThis add on is a helpful tool for saving time when scouring google scholar. However there aren't any options to disable pop-ups. I'd like to disable the 'announcement' style pop ups which aren't giving me any new information.

Clare - Noté 4 sur 5par thieu, il y a 5 ansIdeal for doing research off-campus. Although I would like to use it on-demand so I can just click the extension icon when I need it. Now on a lot of web pages where I don't need the extension it shows a pop-up, which is quite annoying.

Thanks for reaching out to us and we understand your concerns. With some of our core features (eBooks alternatives, article alternatives, highlight and search), our extension does require a few details to provide you with a seamless service.
In order to function, the extension needs to scrape the page for academic material IDs (like ISBN and DOI) and based on this information you getting redirected to a full text location. We can assure you, we do not collect any personal data and we also use highly advanced regular expressions when scraping the pages to make sure our extension only picks up DOIs and ISBNs.
You can find more information about our data privacy commitment on our website : https://www.leanlibrary.com/data-privacy/

Clare - Noté 5 sur 5par Utilisateur ou utilisatrice 15531931 de Firefox, il y a 6 ansReally good module but I have one complain. Some of my own subscriptions (for newspapers) are supperior to the one my university provides. Could you implement a easy on/off switch or an exclusion list for certain websites? Keep up the good work!

mis en ligne : il y a 6 ansThank you so much for your feedback. This is on our roadmap and I'll record your request as another signal to help prioritise it appropriately. If you contact us at support@leanlibrary.com, we might be able to assist you to "work around" this behavior, or work with your library to improve the setup for all users at your institution! We look forward to hearing from you soon! - Noté 4 sur 5par Phil Adams, il y a 6 ansWe know that lots of requests are made for articles unavailable from the publishers, but included in library collections elsewhere. This extension helps people find the material that can access for free and so get on with their research.
