I got tired of hunting through my Gmail inbox to find important messages, so I had ChatGPT build this: Gmail Inbox Star Reorder. It automatically sorts your emails by star color, then by the newest timestamp—without breaking Gmail’s built-in click handlers. Any unread message is treated as if unstarred (none), so you can focus on important emails first. This add-on updates your inbox layout every few seconds and requires minimal processing power thanks to a lightweight script.

Key Features

Star Priority: none → purple → red → yellow
Unread → Unstarred: unread emails appear as if they have no star

How to Use

Install the extension and open Gmail in Firefox.
Make sure you’re on the Inbox view (#inbox in the URL).
Star emails with your chosen colors (purple, red, or yellow).
Watch the inbox reorder automatically every few seconds!


If you need to revert to Gmail’s default layout, simply disable or remove the add-on. Enjoy a more organized, star-prioritized inbox!
