publicado el hace 5 añosThanks for your review! You can configure JabRef so that new entries are always imported in an already opened instance of JabRef. For this, activate "Listen to remote operation on port" under the "Network" tab of the JabRef Preferences. - Se valoró con 1 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 16384463, hace 5 añosDoesn't work in Ubuntu 20.04 with JabRef 5.1 and Firefox 81.XX. I tried everything, but always get: "jabref browser extension attempt to postmessage on disconnected port". Browser-console: Failed to execute command "/opt/jabref/lib/jabrefHost.py" NativeMessaging.jsm:113. Although the file is there and is executable, I copied "org.jabref.jabref.json" in native-messaging-hosts as explaind, but it doesn't work.
- Se valoró con 5 de 5por Molly, hace 5 añosso far, awesome. I couldn't get it to show on my search bar(?) for maximum convenience, but the menu and alt+shift+j works and it exports so conveniently! If I can acquire a paid postdoc position, i will at least buy you a cup of coffee...

publicado el hace 5 añosThanks for the kind words. Can you please open an issue at https://github.com/JabRef/JabRef-Browser-Extension for the missing icon, including a screenshot of the menu where it appears for you. - Se valoró con 4 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 14328529, hace 5 añosWas going to review that extension 1 star because it had worked only once on an arXiv page. However, I was missing the .json and noticed it on posting the rating. Sorry for being such a bad user.
Isn't there a way to warn that the extension isn't completely installed? How comes that it has worked once?
I'm putting 4 stars for now, but if everything keeps running smoothly, definitely going to increase this despite the weird story ;-) . I see that there are other reviews that are most likely in the same conditions.
Thank you for the work!

publicado el hace 5 añosThanks for your suggestion. I've created an issue https://github.com/JabRef/JabRef-Browser-Extension/issues/170 to keep track of it. In case you experience any problems, feel free to open an issue there as well and I'll try to fix it quickly. - Se valoró con 2 de 5por tryme, hace 5 añosHi !
I'd really like to put a five star for this nice work, but I'm stuck with the extension telling me it has been sent to Jabref, and Jabref opening a tab with no data inside. So I don't know why the bib file is empty …
[Firefox 75.0 / Ubuntu 19.10 / Jabref 5.0 via snap]Respuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 5 añosThanks for your review and I'm sorry that the extension is not working for you. Could you please open an issue at https://github.com/JabRef/JabRef-Browser-Extension/issues providing a bit more details what's not working (e.g. on every website? only on certain ones? are there errors displayed in the browser console?). - Se valoró con 3 de 5por strelochnik, hace 5 añosThank you for your hard work on this. Unfortunately, it opens a second instance of Jabref even though I have "remote operation" on and listening to port 6050. The import pop-up window then freezes in this second instance without populating the entry and in the first instance it creates a new untitled library.

publicado el hace 5 añosI'm sorry to hear that you experience problems with the second instance opening. Could you please report this bug at https://github.com/JabRef/jabref/issues. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 15738781, hace 5 años
- Se valoró con 2 de 5por Christophe, hace 5 añosI will give it a much better rating if I can get it to work. So far, it's not working at all. I have an open JabRef library, with remote listening on, and using Arxiv just for testing. for example https://arxiv.org/abs/1905.09397 . The icon is not displayed in the search bar, but I find the icon clicking the 3 dots in the search bar. When I clich, it tells me it is searching to bibliographic data but just hangs there? Earlier, I had instances where it said it was sending data to JabRef but nothing happened thereafter.
I may be doing something wrong but I don't know what that would be. I tried copying just the BibTex citation, but that did not make any difference either.Respuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 5 añosSorry to hear you had bad experience with the browser extension so far. The latest version 2.2 includes many stability fixes so that these issues should be of the past now. In case you're still experience any problems, please report them at https://github.com/JabRef/JabRef-Browser-Extension/issues. - Se valoró con 3 de 5por Zage12, hace 6 añosI am writing this review mainly to help Linux users get this working properly, since I just managed to do so myself. Will update this review when I use the plugin extensively
Note: this guide assumes you have jabref >= 4.2 and the JabFox extension installed. Also, for all of the files quoted below, you can always create the file by copy-pasting the appropriate text.
Step 1:
Download or create the file org.jabref.jabref.json, which can be found here:
https://github.com/JabRef/jabref/tree/master/buildres/linux/native-messaging-host/firefox
put it in either
/usr/lib/mozilla/native-messaging-hosts/org.jabref.jabref.json
(i.e. for system-wide configuration)
~/.mozilla/native-messaging-hosts/org.jabref.jabref.json
(i.e. user specific configs)
Step 2:
Check if the file /opt/jabref/lib/jabrefHost.py exits. If not, download jabrefHost.py from here:
https://github.com/JabRef/jabref/blob/master/buildres/linux/jabrefHost.py
and put it in /opt/jabref/lib/
Step 2.a:
Mark /opt/jabref/lib/jabrefHost.py as executable, i.e.:
sudo chmod u+x /opt/jabref/lib/jabrefHost.pyRespuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 5 añosThanks for your guide. With JabRef 5.0 these steps are now automatic if you install it via the Debian package. See also https://docs.jabref.org/import-export/import/jabref-browser-extension for the updated installation instructions. - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 15316101, hace 6 añosIt now works in Linux. Sometimes, it does not export from ArXiV, but it is usually solved by reloading the page.
Thank you for the effort in making the extension and for making it work with Linux.
Original review: It looks good but it does not work on Linux. It is a pity, I would love to use it. - Se valoró con 1 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 15210094, hace 6 añosIt looks like it doesn't work on Linux and neither it will soon :(

As far as I can tell the import works very well, is quite fast, and the installation was easy.
I was really waiting for an update of this addon and tried some alternatives, but this is far better. I hope the jabref feature gets integrated permanently.
The integrated button is the cherry on top! - Se valoró con 5 de 5por Vik, hace 7 años
