It works, but it's completely useless. For whatever reason it always selects the Netherlands, which is extremely slow here. Being able to pre-select the country is a must, I think.
The default auto-connect option will connect you to the fastest available server for you. This leads to better load balancing and higher speed, which is a priority for free users. That said, if you wish to connect to a specific server of your choice, you may consider upgrading your plan.
