About this extension
Strip Special Characters is a lightweight Firefox extension that adds a “Strip special characters” item to the context-menu of any editable field (input, textarea or content-editable).
Key features:
- Whitelist-mode: remove all non-alphanumeric chars except those you explicitly allow.
- Blacklist-mode: strip only the characters you specify; everything else stays intact.
- Dirty-state feedback: the Save button in Options stays disabled until you edit something, then becomes Save Changes in green.
- Keyboard shortcut: default Ctrl + Shift + Y (⌘ + Shift + Y on macOS), rebindable via about:addons → Manage Extension Shortcuts.
- No data leaves your browser. All processing and settings storage is 100% local.
