by Firefox user 13258823, 7 years agoI love this extension, but that the configs don't sync with my firefox account is a big problem.
Putting sites into appropriate containers is not trivial. Having to do this on every computer, or worse, losing your configs... is very discouraging.
The documentation encourages using it to manage multiple accounts on the same platform, however this usecase is not baked in. The default containers are not a bad suggestion. I used some of them. My custom containers centered around the third-party authentication and the specific account. So, I open youtube in a personal google account. I open google drive in a container for my work gsuite account.
Maybe some more guidance could be given on how to use containers. My big question is, does it make sense to separate websites that I authenticate with via twitter from websites I authenticate via facebook?
I think some built-in UX around organizing websites into containers based on specific authentication accounts could be a great feature.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Another Guy, 3 days agopoor performance with 2-factor authentication such as Duo Security, and even worse performance if you need to access the same website from multiple accounts like Google with work account and personal account. It picks the wrong container automatically when I'm trying to use a different account. Bricks several website login pathways with my work accounts.

- Rated 1 out of 5by What???, 3 days agoAll the positive reviews claiming this extension works are either bots or AI. The fact is it doesn't work especially on Meta (Facebook pages) and neither does the other Firefox container called Facebook. Besides, it's incredibly difficult to verify it actually works and in my case I know it doesn't because I use a good VPN and Meta still knows I am not in the country I claim (and no, I am not leaking DNS either). I mean, at first the VPN does it's job but then when I click on a link in FB I am redirected to the site it knows my true location then and starts giving me ads for the country I am physically in. I tried different VPNs and ran extensive tests to verify these container extensions do not work at all.

- can we pls. make it so that i can set a bookmark for amazon to open in one container, then make a bookmark to amazon and specify to open in another? why can we not say directly in the bookmark which container to use (without confirmations and delays) - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19079829, 4 days agoFrankly, it's the most useful extension I've ever used. Thanks to all the team behind this beautiful project for the quality of their work.

This limits the usefulness of this extension considerably, as almost every site redirects from one domain to another, especially for authentication. Please allow me to arbitrarily add domains to the list. It would also be nice if I could have an "add all domains accessed in this tab session to the list for this container" option, to capture any domains redirected to automatically, but manual addition would at least be sufficient.
Pro-tip for anyone else bothered by this: in about:config, set network.http.redirection-limit to 0, and it will stop all redirection temporarily to allow you to add arbirary redirecting domains to this extension. Be sure to set it back to 20 or whatever afterwards.
-0.5 Stars: Can't skip the tutorial when installing the extension. I understand the desire for the intro if you're new, but its clear that the lack of a skip is so that extra products can be cross-sold. Please add a skip option for this. - Rated 5 out of 5by Jose Angel Piqueras, 15 days ago
