by pineybreeze, 7 years agoI installed this add-on to get rid of that annoying new "Other Bookmarks" folder that makes itself the default bookmark location with no setting to change the the default back, or delete this useless folder Mozilla has imposed on me even though I don't want and will never use it. I don't know whose idea that was, but I don't appreciate it.
This add-on allowed me to designate my Bookmarks menu as the default folder again, and save bookmarks to the end of it when I forget to choose a subfolder for them. That is what I have been doing for about 15 years, and it works just fine for me - I know where to look for a bookmark if it isn't where it's supposed to be, and I no longer have to change the default top level bookmark folder EVERY SINGLE TIME I create a bookmark.
In case you can't tell (LOL), I am pretty pissed that I had to install an add-on to accomplish what used to be default behavior (way too much of that with Quantum), but given that I do, I very much appreciate that there IS such an add-on. Thank you.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Cyberknight, a year agoVery useful extension. Remembering last folder for saving is very handy. The unrelated option to save new bookmarks at the top of the folder is also extremely useful. So, it turns out that the main purpose of this extension, to set a default folder for saving bookmarks, didn't glow as much as the side options (to me, at least...) Well, I'm not complaining, it's an essential extension, all those options should be incorporated to Firefox base code!

- Rated 5 out of 5by atriptothemoon, a year agoI'd love it if you could add this option : change the default behaviour when dragging and dropping a bookmark into a bookmark folder that the bookmark is added to the top not the bottom of the folder. Exactly as you can for the chosen default folder for quickbookmarking. thx for such a useful add on for those of us bookmark obsessed peeps. krgds Rob

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 10911376, 2 years agoI originally installed this to fix the default bookmarking behavior always trying to save to an unwanted "other bookmarks" folder.
It worked for a while, but after version 2.13 a breaking change was made that still wasn't reverted YEARS later, with the developer focusing on completely different features that really should have been a different add-on. This also meant I could not use automatic updates for my addons!
At some point, the default behavior changed and now remembers the last several locations a bookmark was saved and defaults to the last used location on its own, making even the ancient 2.1.3 version obsolete for my use case. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15564413, 2 years ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12118840, 2 years agoUsed to work on Mac Firefox < 116.0.3. Used it happily for several years. Now, no matter what folder under the default folder I click on, the bookmark is only saved in the default folder.
Now running the much simpler "Quick Bookmarks to Folder" which does what I need it to. - Rated 4 out of 5by Enrique, 2 years ago
