    In short: Improved compatibility.

    Detailed:
    The old system was using JQuery, mandatory with Bootstrap plugins.
    When JQuery wasn't available (ex: NoScript, DNS restriction, Code design, etc...) the add-on wasn't active.
    The new system is now working only if Bootstrap CSS is included.
