Currently it does not work, once youtube is refreshed you have to manually change again and save. I thought it was because it was conflicting with other add-ons, but after deactivating everything it still doesn't work. A bit sad because it was exactly what I was looking for.Απάντηση προγραμματιστή

Unfortunately, it does not work. The minute the YouTube page is refreshed, it goes back to 3 thumbnails. I'm deleting this extension.

However as of May 1, 2025 this extension no longer works for me. Not sure if it's due to a recent Firefox update or a recent YouTube update, but I'm back to the stupid 2 or 3 thumbnail across situation.
Update in response to developer response: Tried changing number of columns, refresh browser, quit and re-open browser and did not work. Another potential source of this add-on no longer working could be a problem with other extensions...Απάντηση προγραμματιστή

Oh no!!! YouTube UI is finicky. I've experienced that it sometimes requires a page refresh and/or opening the plugin settings and changing the column type and saving again.
